This course is designed to help participants feel more confident using digital devices and online tools. It’s ideal for those who are new to technology or want to improve their digital skills to support job searching, communication, and everyday tasks.

Learning outcomes

Throughout the course, learners will explore how to use computers, smartphones, and tablets in practical ways.

They’ll learn how to turn devices on and off safely, navigate basic settings, and use common features like email, online forms, and job search platforms. The course also covers how to create and manage online accounts and how to update personal information securely.

On successful completion, participants will receive a Statement of Attainment, which can be added to their resume or used as credit toward further study.

What is the Adult Digital Literacy Course?

This five-day, face-to-face workshop introduces participants to the digital world and helps strengthen their existing skills. The course focuses on practical, everyday digital tasks that support job searching, communication, and confidence using technology.

Participants will build essential knowledge that can boost their employability and give them a stronger edge in today’s digital job market.

Is this course accredited?

Yes, the course is accredited. It includes the nationally recognised unit BSBTEC101 Operate Digital Devices, which can be found on Training.gov.au.

Upon successful completion of the course requirements, participants will receive a Statement of Attainment. This can be added to their resume or portfolio and may also count as credit toward a full qualification if they choose to continue their studies later.

What is covered in this course?

Some of the key elements covered in this course includes:

  • Digital terminology and basic computer features.
  • Key components of digital systems.
  • Key functions of operating systems.
  • User procedures for powering up and shut down.
  • Activating digital devices and accessing help features.
  • Navigate and organise files or applications.
  • Navigate and create online accounts and profiles through various portals such as:
    • MyGov and Jobactive accounts.
    • Employable Me app.
    • Seek, Indeed, LinkedIn and other job searching platforms.
  • Edit and update stored information.
  • As well as other key elements used in everyday digital uses.

Do participants need to attend all days?

Yes – it’s important that participants attend all five days of the course.

Each session is designed to build their digital skills through group activities, individual tasks, assessments, and an employer host day. The course also ends with a graduation celebration. Attending every day ensures they get the full learning experience and the best chance to succeed.
